Shanlee Johnston made her first international appearance for Canada in a 2012 series against the United States. After suiting up for the first round of the FIH World League in 2012, she helped Canada win bronze at the 2013 Pan American Cup.
Johnston missed out on competing at the 2014 Commonwealth Games due to injury, but worked her way back into the fold in 2015, making the Pan Am Games team, which eventually won bronze in Toronto, becoming the first Canadian women’s team to medal at the event since 1991.
Johnston helped the UBC Thunderbirds win three straight CIS national titles in 2011, 2012, and 2013. She has a brother, Gordon, who is a part of the Canadian Men’s National Team.
