The Canadian women’s national field hockey team tied Ireland "A" 2-2 in their second exhibition match in as many days. The Canadians competed much harder in today’s game after dropping a 2-0 decision on Monday. A number of strong attacks were created up the right hand side but despite generating numerous 25-yard penetrations Canada was unable to capitalize on their early possession.

Canada drops first game of Irish Series

In the first game of the Women’s National field hockey team’s Ireland Series, Team Ireland A defeated Canada by a score of 2-0.
The Irish team came out strong owning much of the play in the first half. Their first goal was scored at the 4 minute mark on a penalty corner by Roisin Flinn.

The Canadian National Women’s Field Hockey team will travel to Dublin, Ireland January 9 – 19th for a series of test matches versus the Irish. The tour is in preparation for the 2009 Pan American Cup taking place in Bermuda in early February.

On November 29th at the 41st Statuary Congress, I was elected President of the International Hockey Federation. I would like to take some words to thank the Congress for its support. The Canadian women’s national field hockey team returned to winning form Friday afternoon with a 1-0 victory over Jamaica. The women will next face Team Mexico on Sunday in the 5th place game of the 2009 Pan American Cup in Hamilton, Bermuda.
The first half saw Canada awarded with seven penalty corners but they were unable to convert.
