Team Canada rallied from a deficit twice to draw the host Chileans 3-3 Sunday afternoon at the Men’s Pan American Cup in Santiago. Connor Grimes, Wayne Fernandes, and Rob Short scored the Canadian goals.

Tupper leads Canada past Mexico

Scott Tupper scored a hat trick to lead the Canadian men’s field hockey team past Team Mexico 7-3 Tuesday afternoon in their final round robin game of the 2009 Pan American Cup in Santiago, Chile. It was the Vancouver native’s second three goal performance of the tournament after accomplishing the feat last Saturday afternoon against Brazil.
The Canadian men finish in second place in Pool B with two wins and a draw. Chile finishes ahead of Canada on goal differential after a 9-0 victory over Brazil later in the day…

Canada once again Champions of the Americas!

With 5 rookies, an untested goalkeeper and new coaching staff since the Beijing Games in August 2008, the Canadian Men’s field hockey team once again displayed its character traits: heart, determination and intelligence as it was crowned Champions of the Americas and the first team to qualify for the World Cup finals to be held in New Dehli, India in March 2010.

With a short preparation window and no funding or sponsorship, the staff: lead by former top international Alan Brahmst, assistant coach and former captain Peter Milkovich and manager and former international goalkeeper Hari Kant designed a 100 day plan that included a self funded 12 day training camp at the United States Olympic training centre in San Diego and a series of mini – camps in Vancouver and Victoria…

Canada defeats USA, qualifies for World Cup

The Canadian men’s field hockey team defeated the United States 2-1 in overtime Sunday afternoon to win the 2009 Pan American Cup in Santiago, Chile. The victory qualifies Canada for the 2010 World Cup of Hockey.
North Vancouver’s Paul Wettlaufer scored the game winning goal four minutes into extra time to send the Canadian men’s team to its first World Cup since 1998 where they finished in eighth-place. It was Wettlaufer’s first goal of the tournament…

The Canadian national women’s field hockey team defeated Team Ireland 2-1 Sunday afternoon in Dublin. It was the final of a three-match official test series between the two sides.
Abigail Raye (Kelowna, BC) scored the game-winner in what was her first international goal put the Canadians up 2-1 with twelve minutes remaining in the game. Cailie O’Hara (Oakville, ON) scored the other Canadian goal shortly after Ireland’s Skipper McKean opened the game’s scoring in the 27th minute…
