BC to send two men's teams to Sr Nationals

FHBC to send two teams to Senior Men’s Nationals

Field Hockey BC has confirmed two provincial teams will be sent to the FHC Senior Men’s National Championship in Calgary next month.  Tentative rosters have also been posted on the organization’s website available here.

The men’s championship will now feature Team Ontario, Team Alberta, as well as Team BC Blue and Team BC White.  Several of the athletes on the Ontario and BC teams are part of the national team program…

Canadian men defeat Russia in Test Match

The Canadian men’s national field hockey team defeated Russia 3-2 on Monday afternoon in Elektrostal, Russia.  The game was an official test match sanctioned by the International Hockey Federation.

Vancouver, British Columbia native Scott Tupper scored two goals to secure the victory.  Mark Pearson, also of Vancouver, netted the other goal for the winning side.

Canada has sent a relatively young squad to Russia to compete in a Four Nation tournament with Russia, South Africa, and Bangladesh as part of their ongoing preparations for the 2010 World Cup…

Despite a much stronger game than yesterday’s loss to Belarus, the Canadian women’s national field hockey team was defeated 8-1 by Team India on the second day of competition at the FIH Champions Challenge II in Kazan, Russia.

Belarus upsets Canada at CCII

Team Belarus upset the Canadian women’s national field hockey team 3-1 Sunday afternoon on the opening day of the FIH Champions Challenge II in Kazan, Russia.  Katie Rushton of Victoria, British Columbia scored the lone goal for Canada in the 42nd minute.

Belarus opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game with Iryna Kazachok hitting the target from open play to shock their North American opponents.  Volha Shyntar scored twice for the winning side in the 19th and 50th minute…

Field Hockey Canada and men’s head coach Alan Brahmst officially announced today the athletes and staff who will represent Canada next week at a Four-Nation Tournament in Elektrostal, Russia.  The event will see a relatively young Canadian squad compete against the senior teams of Bangladesh, South Africa, and host Russia.

Schedule released for U16 Nationals

The 46-match schedule for the 2009 FHC U16 National Championships was officially released today eight weeks before the gold medal matches are to be played.  Both the men’s and women’s tournaments will take place at the two-pitch Iceland Fields venue in Mississauga, Ontario.

The nine-team women’s tournament and six-team men’s tournament will each begin on Thursday, July 30th at 9:00 AM (all times Eastern Standard) with BC White versus Alberta, and Saskatchewan versus BC Blue respectively…

Canadian men’s national field hockey team head coach Alan Brahmst today announced his official training squad for preparations leading up to the 2010 World Cup in Delhi, India.

The names of 32 athletes were released, including four goaltenders, following a four-day selection camp in Vancouver at the national team’s domestic training facility on the campus of the University of British Columbia…
