Field Hockey Canada is pleased to announce it has signed an exclusive agreement with CanterburyNZ to be its official clothing partner through the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

In its role the CanterburyNZ design team will work closely with both the Men’s and Women’s National teams to design and manufacture the most advanced high performance training and match wear on the market today. Field Hockey Canada (FHC) and Head-Coach Alan Brahmst announced on Sunday the names of the players who will represent Canada in the seven-game test series against India, scheduled from October 9 to 24 in Victoria and Surrey, British Columbia.

After 33 years, India’s men’s national field hockey team arrived in Canada this afternoon at the Vancouver International Airport.  The last time the Indian Team came to Canada was for the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games!

The team is of course tired but in excellent spirits and were visibly impressed by the welcome signs and the special treatment they got from the Canadian Border Services Officials, Vancouver Airport Authorities, local media, local community members, and members of the 7 Test Super Series organizing committee…

As you may or may not be aware, Field Hockey Canada recently conducted an organizational review – the Board, athlete reprepresentatives, our provincial associations and others were interviewed by an external consultant and a number of recommendations were presented to the Board. 

The next 6-9 months will serve as a transition period whereby we will not immediately hire an Executive Director to replace Suzzanne Nicholson, but will reallocate some of these funds to several individual contractors who will provide support to us in targeted priority areas…

After many years of dedicated service, Suzzanne Nicholson will be retiring from Field Hockey Canada (FHC) on Friday, September 25, 2009.  Suzzanne has been an employee at FHC since May 1983, when she began her career as the Technical Director and was later promoted to the Executive Director position.  During her 27-year tenure at FHC, she has seen many changes not only to FHC but to the Canadian sport system…
