He has been a member of the Outaouais Field Hockey Club since 1973 and is currently a lifetime honorary member.

Although he retired as a player 2004, Denys still umpires in the NCSSAA (Ottawa high school league). He umpires many games on the grass fields of the city's high schools and always enjoys the experience.
In 2009, Denys prepared this commentary on the main rule changes of field hockey throughout the past 100 years.
