U21 and Senior Teams trained through Easter Weekend

Field Hockey Canada is pleased to announce the Women’s National Senior Squad for 2013. Upon completion of the March Selection Camp, WNT head coach Ian Rutledge remains optimistic with the outlook of the program in building towards The Rio 2016 Olympics.

The squad is split into three sections: The Women’s National Team (WNT), The Senior Development Squad (DS), and The Junior Development Squad (JDS). The staff will then select event and competition teams from these respective squads for the 2013 calendar and beyond.

Coach Rutledge is wasting no time as training is already underway to prepare for a busy summer of tours and competition both locally and abroad. Competition begins in May as the WNT hosts Argentina U-21 for a three match test series in Vancouver, BC.

The squad then breaks into their respective provinces to compete at the FHC Senior National Championships, before travelling overseas to Ireland in mid June, and The United States in August. Through the tight schedule, the U-21 WNT also travels to Germany to compete in the Junior World Cup in late July.

The busy summer culminates in the Pan American Cup in September in Mendoza, Argentina. Congratulations to all the athletes involved!
