Besides basketball, field hockey was the only team sport offered to females at my high school. I started playing in grade 8 when I was 12 years old.
When I was 8, I was inspired by the athletes parade at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, BC and dreamed of competing in the games. My proudest field hockey moment was hearing Oh Canada before our first match at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. It was during this anthem that I realized that the fantasy of the past was now a reality.

When I'm not in Vancouver training I like to spend time at my family cabin reading on the dock.

My role models are my family.
"There are some who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality. Then there are those who turn one into the other."
Value the setbacks and hardships and use them to make you stronger. Earning your achievements is more rewarding than being handed them.
