I am a graduate of Resurrection Catholic Secondary School and I now attend the University of Western Ontario for American Studies. While at school, I am an assistant coach of the varsity field hockey team. I enjoy playing several other sports including soccer, football, baseball and track and field. I was also a member of the National Indoor Field Hockey Team which competed at the 2011 Indoor World Cup in Poznan, Poland.

My father, Phil Hignell, has always been an inspiration to me because for as long as I can remember he has worked tirelessly to provide organized field hockey in our city and in Ontario. It is largely because of his efforts that had the opportunity to play the sport as a child, and his motivation pushed me to where I am today.
There will always be obstacles, but if you really want something you'll find a way to overcome them.
