Competed at the 2007 Pan American Games, finishing 5th…first international cap was the 2006 UK/France Tour…trains in Vancouver, British Columiba...coached by Sally Bell since 2006 (formerly coached by Hash Kanjee from 2002-2007)…tore her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in 2000 missing one year of competition...started playing in grade 10 because it was the next sport available to play in the spring - she then made the U18 provincial team and competed at the Western Canada Summer Games...moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba after highschool and played for the University of Manitoba, transferring to the University of British Columbia (played there until 2006) ...was a competitive gymnast for 11 years…most inspired by and admires her father because he taught her the importance of hard work and dedication - he suffered a severe arm injury when he was 24 years old, which never held him back from achieving his goals...
Honours include the 2007 Premier's Athletic Award, 2006 Robert F. Osborne Memorial Award (for excellence in academics, athletics and service in sport and recreation), 2006 Diana Popwich Memorial Scholarship, 2004 Petro-Canada Olympic Torch Scholarship, 2006 Academic All-Canadian, 2006 Joan Livesey Award, 2006 CIS Player of the Year, 2006 Canada West Player of the Year, 2005 and 2006 Tournament XI - Nationals, 2006 and 2006 1st Team All Canadian, 2003-2005 Thunderbird Athletic Scholarship, 2002 Rookie of the Year... |
