Hey girls (and boys),   Wishing you ALL success at these games; both as a team and individually.  We need to dig deep for these outings, and FIRE IN THE BELLY comes to mind.  You know the whole eagle thing and all!!  And last but not least...SHOOT the "____" ball.  Enjoy the experience and know that we're all cheering you on from the old armchair.   Love to all, Yvonne and Tom

I am sitting here at work and thinking back 20 years when we beat Argentina in the final, 3-1  to win the Pan Am Gold…I wish I was 20 years younger and could do it all over again…….take it all in, enjoy the moment and be confident in your abilities…don't hold anything back…….

Its now 20 years later and I wish all of you the best……

LETS DO IT AGAIN GUYS !!!

Good luck!

Dear Sally and our National Team,

As tough as the competition is at the Pan Ams and as much as you are all focused on the remaining games, on behalf of Field Hockey Manitoba I want tell you that your supporters here at home remain with you every step of the way.  Nothing can change that. Things don't always go as planned but one thing that Canadian teams in any sport can count on is effort and fierce pride to the last moment and we are proud that you are doing so.  Right now is all that anyone can influence so go out and continue to give it all you have got.  We are confident that you great success in your remaining games.   With you all the way.  Go Canada!

Rick Balasko President, Field Hockey Manitoba

Have the courage to play your game...believe!

this is Jenny John calling in. I have been away and  actually away from a computer or news to find out the results. I am so sorry the girls could not pull it off against one or more of the teams in the section. I know from experience how we had such goals and the games did not pan out that way, despite our dreams and work rate. The disappointment of team, coaches and support staff knows no bounds, but we find a way to go into the next game with the same attitude to give it our all. Sally and staff have done a wonderful job with the team, I heard such glowing reports when in Vancouver the other week. I guess the other teams have also worked hard to deny us  success. Please pass on to Sally, the staff and the team that those of us who have been there, plus families and friends, are behind them 100%  and wish them well. Enjoy the moments of being in such a quality competition, savour the multi sport adventure and give until the end, both individually and as a team. I look forward to watching and supporting the team in Victoria next April. Hope all is well with the organization from your end and that for the other sports.

Sincerely, Jenny

To the men's Pan Am Team:

Congratulations on your performance so far. Keep up the hard work and go for gold!   The field hockey community in NS wishes you the best.

On behalf of Field Hockey Manitoba and all our members, we want to wish the Men's team great success in the Gold Medal match on Wednesday!  We have followed your results and we have been on the edge of our seats with excitement and cheering you all on every step of the way.   Whatever the sport, Canadians fight on to the last moment and that seems to be the case at the Pan Ams as well.    To Coach Louis, all the coaches, staff and in particular the athletes, you have a lot of support at home and we are very proud of how you have and will represent Canada.  Take it to them and bring home the Gold!

Your hard work has paid off good luck in Beijing in 2008.

Gurmit Grewal & Family.

Congratulations, you should be soooooo proud! What a great, come from behind performance. This must rank right up there in terms of significant victories for Canadian Men's teams' wins ever.

Rob Short's comments after the Dublin tourney seemed to forshadow something majical  that was starting to build..  Perhaps it was those wins against Wales and Egypt, as well !

Take the time to saviour this boys. It should give you guys all the confidence getting prepared for Beijing.
