Paul Wharton made his debut with Canada in 2012. He won a silver medal with Canada at the 2012 Junior Pan American Championship and then competed at the 2013 FIH Junior World Cup.
In 2014 he helped Canada finish second at the Champions Challenge 1 in Malaysia and then made his international multi-sport competition debut at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
In 2015, Wharton was a part of the team that qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games by finishing fourth at World League Round 4 in Argentina. He also appeared at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto, playing in his 50th in international match and helping Canada to a silver medal.
