Johnny Gill didn’t start playing field hockey until he was 14 years old. But by the time the Surrey, British Columbia native was playing Under-16 hockey for his province, he was named the top goal scorer at the National Championships.
A self-described “simple, pocket player,” he made his Junior international debut for Canada in the Canada-USA Under-21 series in his hometown of Surrey in June 2015.
In 2016, Johnny was named to the Under-21 team for the 2016 Junior Men’s Pan American Games – a Junior World Cup qualifier – in Toronto, Ontario.
He also played soccer growing up and has a cousin, Gurteg, who also plays field hockey.
