Iain Smythe comes from a field hockey program that has produced many a National Team player. After being registered in the Vancouver Hawks spring season at the age of eight, Smythe never looked back.

He has more than 150 senior national caps since making his debut in 2009. That total includes two appearances at the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and 2014, and two Pan American Games in 2011 and 2015. In both Pan Am Games he helped Canada earn silver.

In 2014 he was part of Canada’s second place finish at the Champions Challenge 1, and in 2015 helped Canada earn 2016 Olympic qualification via the World League tournament.

Iain’s brother John is also a part of the Men’s National Program.
