| At 39 and after 224 games with the Canadian National Team,
Patrick Burrows, the man
whose picture is on the cover of the Rules Book, had announced that this World
Cup would be his last international competition.
After the game against Korea on June 1, a friendly reception was organized to roast the happy "retiree". He was presented with a rocking chair and a walking stick by his wife Sue and his teammates before a series of speeches, some quite humorous, all agreed that his career could be summarized by two words: commitment and sportsmanship! Patrick was the first recipient of the Harold Wright Memorial Trophy a new trophy to honor an athlete most displaying the Olympic Ideals. |
