The long awaited arrival in Argentina, after a 14 hour plane ride from Toronto, came to a sudden halt going through customs. Two of our members who will NOT remain unanimous, Shannon and Inderjit, were detained as landed immigrants... We had to pool our money and bail them out. Once that was sorted out we were on our way.
The food is absolutely horrible and there is not much of it.
The team is showing signs of life but were are not quite there yet, as our 1-4 loss shows. We will do a lot better tomorrow, but that's it for now because there are people waiting to use the computer!
Later from the boys in Argentina.

May 24 - Final: Canada Junior - Team TK: 2 - 2 (penalty strokes: 3-2)
Team TK opened the scoring early , but Canada tied the game with 2 seconds left in the half by Ravi Kahlon on a penalty corner. The second half saw Canada take a 2-1 lead on another penalty corner goal by Ravi. Team TK evened the score with under 5 minutes left on a penalty corner rebound.
The teams then went to penalty strokes. Matt Peck saved 3 strokes and Casey Ferguson, Karl DaCosta and Michael Lee scored their strokes to give Canada the Competitive 1 Division Championship!
In a tight marking game, Canada managed one goal on a penalty stroke conversion by Aneal Basi. Shankar Premakanthan played the whole match in goal for Canada. The victory puts Canada into the Final against Team TK. The match has been moved to 1:00 to accommodate the eastern athletes flights.
Matt Peck and Jeff Pacheco were a singular bright light in an off performance for the team. Canada played flat and Jokers made sure they had their strongest side on the field. Several key saves by Matt kept Canada in the match. Monday morning’s match against the Vancouver Hawks will determine if Canada goes to the final against either Hawks or Team TK.
The Juniors showed improved offensive play today with the scoring being done by 6 different players. Shankar Premakanthan started his first game for Canada and logged the shutout! Former Canadian Captain, Pat Burrows, played for Palo Alto where he now resides.
This was a very tough match against a very experienced veteran team. Several ex-national players were on Team TK including Bubli Chohan, the recently retired all time Cap leader for Canada. The only goal was scored in the first half on a world class goal by Casey Ferguson, a high, very hard shot in the top right corner. Team TK had several good opportunities that were turned away by goaltender, Matt Peck.
Canada had an easy opening match against Edmonton. It provided a good opportunity for the Junior to play together as a team: this was the first match the Junior National Team has had since March of 1997!
