Did you know ?

Since the beginning of the Canada Games, the Medical Services have been extremely busy: they dealt with 1,200 majors injuries (sprains, strains, dislocations, etc...) and 812 minor ones (taping, etc...)!

Guess who came to the party!
(click on the pictures for more detail)
  • 2000 Olympian Ian Bird came from Toronto between two meetings before flying back home to Vancouver; Visitors
  • A delegation of the South African Ministry of Sports, lead by Simphiwe Mncube, is observing in detail the organization of the Canada Games; South Africa is looking at creating a similar event in the very near future;
  • Laurelee "Jumbo" Kopeck, captain of the National Team, dropped by while visiting friends in Ontario; despite playing 155 times for the National Team (including in the 1992 Olympic Games and 2 World Cups), the popular "Jumbo" never had a chance to play in the Canada Games! Visitors
  • Butch Worth, the new Coach of the Women's National Team, did the commentary of the semi-final for TSN;
  • 1984 Olympian Terry Wheatley Magee, now National Team Coordinator in the FHC National Office; Terry played in the 1981 Canada Games in Thunder Bay and won a Silver Medal;
  • National Team players Scott Sandison and Robin D'Abreo. Robin came to support his new wife Dana, Manager of Team Ontario.
